We covered preparation in the last post, so this one is all about awareness, which is something of a dirty word to "modern occultists" in that its connected to meditation. Its a simple tool, but so few people feel that they can actually do it. I think its difficulty is centered in the fact that it isn't a complicated tool, and for whatever reason, humans love to overcomplicate things.
Protection is all a matter of preparation and awareness. Being certain that you're covered is foolish, so keeping your head on a swivel is important. When you're aware, you can be proactive and be sure to do the needful long before its ever actually needed. Tends to let life work out a bit better that way.

#1: Holy WaterSounds cliche, I know, but Holy Water can be a lifesaver, and its actually fairly easy to make. I recommend the following blend: 1 cup of water, 2 drops of oregano essential oil, a pinch of salt. Easy, right? Just stick it in a spray bottle. Mix that blend together, and then focus on what you feel is well and good with this world. If you were raised a Christian, then the Lord's Prayer works quite well: In my line of work, I find that inevitably one comes up against a large number of obstacles and troubles. Eventually, things catch up with you and start to cause both literal and metaphorical headaches. Sometimes these interruptions manifest as medical issues, other times they show up as a string of inconveniences that simply irk the heck out of you. When this starts to happen, its time to take a couple of steps to put yourself right again. Ideally, one would already have protections in place to keep something nasty from happening, but when that's not an option and the mess has hit the fan, there are a couple of tips and tricks worth keeping in your back pocket. Our Father who art in Heaven Then cross yourself, cross the water, and spray away. #2: PrayerAs in the above instance, prayer is a means of drawing down (or drawing up) power and attention from whatever you worship or respect. It could be your ancestors, your dog's spirit, the spirit your family has worshiped for generations, or it could very well simply be addressed to all wealful beings in the Universe. It doesn't need to be grandiose or lengthy; short and sincere works too. One such prayer I heard in a song, some time ago, has stuck with me: "Universe, wrap your arms around me. Its not long, its easy to remember, and, at least for me, there's a lot of emotion there. #3: EnchantmentYou can build upon the previous tools I've gifted you with and mix and match them with rituals meant to deepen and bolster the protections about you.
Taking the Holy Water and prayer above, procure a black candle, a plate, a lighter, and some bay leaves. Light the black candle after placing it on the plate and proceed to burn the bay leaves while reciting the above prayer. Recite it until you feel it, then you can either let the candle burn out or snuff it out. The choice is yours, but after you've done this, you should feel better. If not, and you're still feeling as though you're up a creek without a paddle, I recommend seeking out assistance. Those tools are pretty potent, so if they're not working for you you're either doing something wrong or what you're dealing with is out of your league (and thus you need help). Take care folks, SE |
