Update: This was for my kitty, who had been very seriously ill for the previous ten days. He just would not eat or keep any food down, despite being on multiple medications to help him do so, and was visibly and rapidly wasting away. It really looked like he wasn't going to make it, and were preparing for the worst. A few days after the ritual, he had a very sudden and dramatic turnaround for the better. His appetite and digestion are now back to normal, and he is off the medication. Powerful stuff, y'all.

We have a public library that is walking distance from our house. We've been living in our new house for over a year now, but it was our first time visiting the library in August. My Gris Gris Bag & oil arrived this afternoon! Thank you very much! The bag is astounding. It smells incredible. You mentioned the bag is "seeded": I noticed the top of the bag, above the fastening, the fabric is folded in a way that looks like an opening flower. Before, during and after smudging myself, bag & oil a hummingbird buzzed past. Next, a scrub or blue jay popped atop the fence about six feet away (screaming away) followed by one of those big, fat, fluffy and fuzzy bumble bee buzzing past my ear & face. I know, I know - I'm high AF and going all, "DOUBLE RAINBOW!!! WHAT DOES IT MEEEEEEEEEEAAN". However (lol), you taught me to pay attention to these things, particularly when these things grab our attention (I wasn't high at the time). The timing was very cool. After the bee, very dark clouds rolled in (PDQ, too - it was weird & unexpected). These buggers were black clouds with very high winds). In this area (valley), absolutely zero clouds were called for until late next week. Then there was a drizzle.
[My dog] has been strangely obedient today, too.
Then, it happened.
I was eating a salad at dinner, and I felt a small piece of something slide into the pharynx. A wave of panic rushed through my body and I looked at mom. In a nanosecond, I was choking. With the inhale to cough I felt a very, very small object move too far down. I was fucking choking. Mom's expression turned from laughter (she was giggling at something else) to sheer panic. I could not cough or breathe. Chris, I don't want to tell you how it felt. I knew I could have died. I held up one finger and nodded to mom once. She didn't move, but waited for my signal to Heimlich. I closed my eyes & mom moved, but I gave her another "waaaait" signal. Imagining where the object was, I relaxed the surrounding muscles, Chris. WHAT THE FUCK IS IN THIS BAG? I knew - I KNEW - I would die if this didn't work. I relaxed the muscles, very, very, very carefully and slowly inhaled the tiniest amount of air so I could cough safely, and forced a cough from my diaphragm. I felt the object dislodge. Carried on the cough was a small piece of red cabbage. The bag was in my left breast pocket at the time.
Feeling my life in the balance, again, was the absolute worst, 'oh no - no no no no no not NOW' feeling, I have never wanted to feel again. I coughed and was fine, physically. Mom was scared as Hell. I am pretty fucking freaked out. I'll cry later in bed.
The Gris Gris bag, IMHO, helped my presence of mind and connection with deep tissues in ways inexplicable. I knew how much time I had without O2 to get whatever out. You and I both know mom could never get the Heimlich done with success (maybe by adrenaline but, no). I don't know that an ambulance would have arrived in time. Thank you, Chris. The timing belt should have been covered in oil, busted loose and I should be somewhere else but here.
