As mentioned previously in my post about Timing, astrological happenings can have a major impact on everyone.  How much of an impact and what sort of impact any heavenly changes and transits have upon an individual depends largely upon their personal natal chart, so some folks are bound to be more heavily swayed by an event than others.

Before I proceed further, its worth acknowledging the facts that by & large, astrology is a divisive concept: some love it and swear by it, others hate it and call it silly nonsense. Some fall right in between, and are admittedly rather agnostic where such concepts are concerned. Let there be no mistake: astrology and the associated changes are crucial to understand.  Like it or not, you're at the butt end of a giant cosmic joke where the aforementioned are concerned, and you can either acknowledge and use it or simply be used by those changes. You're never going to free yourself from their influence entirely, as its going to mess with you even if you don't want it to.

Modern science may well say its junk "science", but the reality is that Police Stations staff more officers during the full moon because they've seen this in action. Same goes for Emergency Rooms. If you think this is nonsense, pull up a lunar calendar and watch just how nuts people go during the Full and New moons. Observation trumps "science", in my experience, as there are plenty of things that we simply do not understand at this juncture. Give it another 30 years and we may then have a bead on why these events effect us so.

Having called as much into the limelight, the reason for my post today is that we are currently undergoing a Mercury retrograde. It started as of September 17th and will end on October 9th. Between now and about two weeks from the end date on the 9th of October, you're going to be dealing with the effects thereof.

We're also dealing with a Pluto, Uranus, Chiron, and Neptune retrogrades at this time. That's why things have been uniquely unhinged for the past while.

What that means is relatively simple: when a planet goes retrograde the darker side of its influence comes out to play and the positives get put on the backburner.  The Universe is in a constant balance of woeful and wealful influences, so right now we're dealing with the wealful influences of Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. We're dealing with the woeful influences of Mercury, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and Chiron. 

The recent Q&A session got me thinking about sharing my own experiences with the Arbatel, as well as on detailing the methods I employ in working with those spirits.

For some backstory, I've worked with the Arbatel spirits on and off for the past 7 years or so.  I first stumbled on them when reading through AE Waite's "Book of Black Magic", if memory serves, and was immediately intrigued by the nature of the spirits therein. Working with them over the years is actually what inspired me to create planetary keys, etc., as the spirits themselves are what turned me onto the idea.

These are powerful entities, I find. Not ones to be trifled with, and provided you get on with them, they are plenty able to rearrange minor and major things within the known universe.  Case in point, working with Ophiel to find a new home, some time ago, resulted in my being led to an apartment complex with a room for rent on the third floor, in the third building, near third street, within 3 days (if memory serves - bit hazy on if it was three days or three weeks).  The locale was well within my price range and, little did I know until I moved in, I wouldn't be charged for electricity for nearly three years.  I believe it was 2 years and 7 months before the management company audited their records and I was informed that there had been a mistake on their end that allowed me to get by without being tagged for an electric bill.  I found that rather interesting, as while actually saving money was not the intention of the rite, staying within my price point was - and living in Arizona is quite costly on that front.  In fact, during the summer months, one's electric bill can easily be between five and six hundred dollars...and I was keeping my home at 76 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.  This calculates out to me having saved ~15,000$ at roughly 4500$ a year, give or take. All in all, pretty damned impressive for a spirit that some have relegated to a stance of less importance on account of his not being a deity.

Ophiel has come to my aid, repeatedly, since that time. I've worked with him at least six times for housing-related concerns since then, at least thirty times for clients, and probably more than fifty times for other Mercury-related concerns.  As a general rule, working with him has proven to be incredibly helpful in both the short and the long term.  As such, I am of the mind that serious practice in Planetary Magic requires some familiarity with him.

So too is this the case with his brethren Och, Phaleg, Phul, Aratron, Bethor, and Hagith.  Each has their effects and potency, and as such they are quite worthwhile.

My methods, in working with them, are simple.  The best results I've gotten have required the least level of preparation on my part after having been initiated by them.  Prior to my simpler approaches, the thing that really kicked my experiences with them into higher gear (after moving into the apartment mentioned above) was evoking the lot whilst intoxicated; while I wouldn't recommend it, the process led to some potent internal changes that afforded me the ability to work with them more easily. Prior to this change, I found that using three candles of an appropriate color, the appropriate planetary oil, a mix of frankincense and myrrh on a coal, and the spirit's sigil worked quite well.

After the initiatory experience, writing a short petition and lighting a candle for the spirit in question became more than enough to readily conjure them.  The process became, for me, something of an offering and a prayer. That in mind, I mention this because working with spirits like this in a simple, unimpeded way seems to be of value.

With that in mind, I have endeavored to pen, for you, Attunement Sigils to unlock the Arbatel's potency for you prior to work with the lot. I would recommend proceeding slowly, doing one a week on the appropriate day, during the appropriate hour if you're not familiar with Ophiel et alia.

Each of these sigils is correlated with a Planetary energy, and thus with a specific day, Planetary Hour, and thus a spirit. You can use Lunarium to calculate planetary hours - be sure to change the location to where you live, as that is crucial.

I've realized I've been a bit lax in sharing pertinent ideas and practices here, over the past few months, so I thought it time to post a bit.  With that in mind, I've been contemplating & experimenting with the idea of using magical grids, mandalas, and so forth when doing work for quite some time now. The idea first struck me many years ago, and I lazily pursued it at the time, only to have my interest rekindled by Gordon over at Rune Soup when he talked about Sigil Shoaling. This pattern of pursuing the idea, then losing sight of it, then pursuing it again has repeated on and on for many years now, and so I am making a conscious effort to put it into practice once again.

As I do so, I am finding that several things happen. Firstly, the vibrational feel of the working picks up considerably.  Secondly, this causes results to manifest more quickly.  And thirdly, it just feels right; something clicks into place and suddenly the individual workings that felt very much alive to start rapidly develops palpable depth and breadth. The workings begin to dance with each other, develop their own music, and then go on to live as if they're villagers that have shuffled out into the world.

Incidentally, since I started doing this, I now get asked if I'm a musician every other day or so.  I love and adore music, but lack the aptitude to create it outside of the creation of sung or whispered charms and such.

Getting back to it, grids, as I'll call them here, can be crafted and shaped in any number of ways with whatever materials you so choose.  You can use numerology, sacred geometry, aesthetic balance, elemental associations, astrological meanings, tarot cards, playing cards, bones, runes, psephoi, colors, and so on and so forth until you've built up a truly impressive and massive magical grid (how's that for a tongue twister, eh?).

Above is one such grid that I use in my home alongside other workings.  When inclined to do so, I often elect to branch out from what you see above and connect this grid to smaller gridded workings like you see below.

The possibilities, potentialities, and arrangements are pretty much limitless in theory.  In reality, they are limited by space and materials. In my case, I limit the size of the workings to 2 altar tops' worth for the sake of not making too much of a mess. :)

When setting up such a system, its useful to take the intention, available materials, and available space into account.  Don't go above and beyond what you can feasibly control, lest it bite you on the rear end at a later date.

I suggest starting small, first by considering the numerical value you want to utilize.  I am partial to letter-based systems of divination a la psephoi (aka the Greek Alphabet Oracle) and the runic Futharks, planetary, and elemental magic, so I tend to arrange grids around those ideas.

If I were to make a fire-related grid for spiritual illumination, I would utilize the numbers 3 and 7, as they strike me as being active and relatively fiery in nature.  I'd utilize 7 different types of materials, be they sigils (Fire symbols from various books, the tattva for fire, picture of a salamander), oils (Fire From Heaven, Bend Over, Commanding), vegetebilia (Cinquefoil, ash, Blessed Thistle, Devil's Claw) mineralia (obsidian, glass, tempered metal, or fire agate), candles (red, orange, jet blue), charms (against Evil Eye, dragon pendant, all seeing eye), animalia (lawfully and humanely harvested bones, sinew, misc. viscera from salamanders, geckos, fire-bellied toads, coyotes, rattlesnakes, vultures, scorpions, mountain lions), uttered or written prayers, energy work, and so forth. I tend to use whatever is available to me - you may or may not have certain limitations, so use whatever you're comfortable with.

Were I to utilize Lunar magic, I'd do the same thing with the numbers 5 and 8. For Jupiter work, I'd use 4 and 7, and so on and so forth, mixing and matching to my heart's content.

With any luck, this post will have provided you with plenty of ideas for magical workings that you could do in the future.

As some of you may be aware, at the end of this week we are going to be experiencing an interesting flood of astrological changes. Things are likely to be a bit rocky, so I thought I'd post about it and pass the word on.

On February 28th Mercury goes direct, so this will be a perfect time for luck, money, flexibility, and memory-related workings.

The following day, March 3rd, a New Moon will be occurring alongside Mars going retrograde, and then upon the following day Saturn will follow suit.  The combination of these effects are likely to cause a fair deal of upheaval for folks for a short while, but on the positive end of things, these changes will allow those who take advantage of the auspicious time to reinvent their lives by powering through obstacles and grasping at the pinnacles they seek.

Finally, with Jupiter going direct on March 6th, for those who jumped at the chance to begin doing work at the start of the cycle, financial gain should begin to manifest and take hold.  All in all, it is an exciting time to formulate new plans and take action to see them through!

It is at this time that I intend to begin anew a fairly sizable operation.  The results, upon their culmination, will later be posted here with the intention of chronicling the effects of magical work done during times of large planetary shifts.

I, in keeping with some of the gnosis received through the creation, execution, and practice of the information and keys in my book "Planetary Magic: Utilizing the Keys", decided to to take another step forward and evoke Moloch.

He had appeared, numerous times, through my work with the Keys, to the point where there was a connection of some sort to be found, but I was unable to understand what the connection was without further research.  In researching him, I found several associations between him and the Stars and, thusly, the Heavenly Wanderers found within planetary magical practices.  He was often considered to be a heavenly bull, a king of the things outside of man's control, and in some cases he's been called a Lord of Saturn.  Saturn functions as a sort of planetary gateway to deeper practices, so it made sense that the connection with the stars would exist.

My utilizing the Gayatri mantra further inspired me, as its a Vedic mantra used to inspire awareness as to humanity's place in the Universe's equation.  When using it, the name Moloch would come to my brain in accordance with starry roads and so forth, so it both interested and perplexed me for a long time.  Gunter's discoveries and results, as posted previously, were further verification of gnosis I'd been sitting on for quite some time.

That being the case, I decided to proceed and evoke Moloch and see what I could find out.

In keeping with my way of evoking spirits, I decided to keep it relatively simple. Doing so was not disappointing, though I have to admit that he proved to be a very interesting source to speak to.

After doodling the sigil that had been burned in my mind for some time, I found that he appeared quickly, without malice or any apparent desire to stir up fear.  Instead, the air in the room started buzzing with a strange current of energy and it was as if my tile floor became alive.  The shift in presence was immediately noticeable, and it felt like an extremely parental energy presented itself; I use the term "parental" rather than "maternal" or "paternal" because it was neither masculine nor feminine.  It was strong in that it was something that I could feel vibrating through my very being, but there was no aggression, anger, caretaking, or even swooning; instead, it was very present, but very ambiguous outside of this feeling of having a parent in the room.  It was like talking to something that's been around for longer than humans have been, and its a feeling I'd felt before in dealing with my Patron. The phrase "indescribable", ironically, is pretty damned descriptive here.

Along with this energy shift came a voice that resounded clearly in my mind, to the point where I could swear that he was talking at me in the room physically. The voice commanded respect, but was neither aggressive nor passive, offensive nor gruff...it was very factual and to the point without seeming overbearing or yielding.  Very strange.

Immediately after Moloch's appearance, I had the desire to grab my mortar and pestle and start compiling a blend of incense; in doing so, he dictated that I mash together various resins for a recel....Frankincense, Copal, Myrrh (as a base), and Benzoin (aka Styrax).  There was enough in the mortar that breaking it down wasn't really very easy, but on instinct I set myself to the task of doing so.  As I did, he spoke to and through me, saying that his function was to grind people down so that they were forced to confront the reality of their situation.  It wasn't a malicious intent even, but more like a refined version of what Satan does in the Abrahamic worldview.  He just challenges you and forces you to see the truth rather than the veil of illusion we're more comfortable with sorting out.

It felt like the evocation lasted hours, but in reality I was "out" for about twenty minutes. I half came out of the mindset when my partner texted me and let me know that she was coming home - she was 5 miles away and felt the result of my conjuration.

After setting my phone down and recovering from the distraction, Moloch didn't seem the least bit phased.  There was a clear sense of timelessness as far as his being was concerned, reinforcing the idea that humanity was a blink of an eye for him....weird as hell, really.

So I continued macerating the resins and then, out of the corner of my eye, this blue/green/gray vortex appeared; at first I thought something else was coming into the room, but then I noticed that the energy looked sickly and was actually being dragged out kicking and screaming.  There was this noticeable "wumph" sound, and then a distinct void in the room, though Moloch hadn't left.  Immediately after, my property was filled with this odd, comforting energy that I had seen and experienced several times when I was much younger.  I saw a stang over the altar that felt as if it had been driven into place, and then as soon as it had appeared the energy had settled into place and things felt as right as they could be. Some things that were in need of cleansing were obviously out of place and noticeable, so it was as if the evocation had led to the clearing of my mind and space that then showed me all that was left to be done.

Right before my lass returned home, I thanked Moloch for coming, as my recel had been crafted, and he left without any weirdness or unpleasantness.  I then set to work on the various things that needed doing and things went off without a hitch.  Now, my whole house has been invigorated and the life on my property has been given some oomph; leaves are greener and healthier, and there's less of the weird hangers-on that have been coming out of the woodwork since Sowen.  The same thing can be noticed down the entire street - even the neighborhood dogs have been, for want of a better term, blessed.

All in all, it was a very rewarding experience, and it gave some proof that I've been on the right track. Definitely worth investigating further, as I had a great deal of fun with it and the effects are still very present after 24 hours.

Greetings, dear readers.

Recently, I had an incident that occurred with a client which prompted this post alongside a slight change to how I do things with clients. In short, this was a situation wherein there were too many hands in the cookie jar because the client in question decided that it was pertinent to hire three or four other workers alongside me, despite our conversations about how it was better to avoid complicating things.  It dawned on me, as this was occurring, that he had little to no idea of why this can be an issue, so I thought I'd talk about it here.

To start us off, think for a moment about working in a  kitchen with others, as that's something we've all done.  What happens when you add another person to the group working on cooking a meal? The room gets slightly more crowded with each addition of a new body.  Even when doing prep work, each person needs between a foot and a foot and a half of elbow room, not counting the counter space, to say nothing of the cook, whose likely wandering around the kitchen.  When you've only got 6 or 7 feet of counter space on each side of the kitchen, with an aisle that's ~3 feet across, that space gets damned crowded.  You've got people running around with knives, spices, meats, veggies, hot pots, boiling water, and Gods know what else; the area quickly becomes a hazardous sight.

Magic's really not all that different.  If your life is the stew and the sorcerer's the chef, its up to the chef to season the stew to provide you with what you ordered (the magical result).  If I am seasoning the stew, I have a pretty good idea of what spices I need to add, and what prep work I need to do. If you start adding other chefs to the mix, soon its going to become an incomprehensible mess, as I don't have the slightest idea what the hell the chef to my right is doing to the stew.  He's probably adding spices I'd never thought of with impunity, totally unaware of the fact that the meat in the stew is intentionally flavored a specific way.

To drop the metaphor and get down to brass tacks, in essence, when there are too many folks doing magical work at one time, the situation can get incredibly complicated.  The fact is that every working I do changes fate ever so slightly...when I'm the only one fiddling around, I can do this with a fair deal of control.  That's no longer the case when you have one other spirit worker doing work concurrently. Adding more to the mix only further complicates the problem.

That being the case, its not an issue if you hired someone to do the work prior to getting me involved, so long as they've already done their work.  Its also not an issue for you to hire someone a few months after I've done the work if the case is not, Heavens forbid, resolved.  But for the love of all that is holy, do not hire someone else while you're having me do the work. It'll likely become a convoluted mess and have really crappy repercussions in your life.

Granted, with that said, there's some flex to this "rule".  The fact is that some magical work is incredibly touchy, and other types are really rather cut and dry, for the most part.  Love work is naturally a pain, and everything's a balancing game, so that's a terrible time to add confusion to the mix.  Uncrossing and blessing work, however, is very direct...its simple, and generally, there's not a heck of a lot of confusion that can be caused.

Just do bear this in mind when you're either doing work for other people or having work done for you, as I'd hate to see your result get dorked up because of impatience or indecisiveness on your part.

Greetings ladies, gentlemen, and in-betweens.

Today's a special day; one for fun and mirth.  It is the day of the Fool, and its meant for pleasure and enjoyment, misrule and a measure of chaos.

Traditionally, this day was dedicated to the Horned God, whom some know as Puck, and others as Pan, Herne, Cernunnos, and on; its a day to be foolish from sunrise til noon-time, proceeding down the street in various shades of color and flourish.

Nowadays, its a day in which we play pranks on those unsuspecting, tickling our fancies with mischievous delights. However, this post is no prank, trick, or game.  I just returned home after some wonderful news, and I am now free of the divorce proceedings with my ex-wife, and can and will go on happily.
