“When you run after your thoughts, you are like a dog chasing a stick: every time a stick is thrown, you run after it. Instead, be like a lion who, rather than chasing after the stick, turns to face the thrower. One only throws a stick at a lion once.”
-Milarepa
Trouble is that when we spend too much time running from something, its all too easy to make a habit of it. That behavior of running becomes a part of our process and a part of what defines us as a person.
Conversely, when we make a point of turning to face whatever it is that's bothering us, we can very often either resolve the trouble, make use of it, or grow from it. If we're really on our game, we can do all three. Doing so creates a kind of internal ferocity and a steadfastness of Will, and that is good for the mind, its good for the body, and its good for the soul. When we begin to embrace Triumphs of the Will, we become indomitable. We become invincible where it matters most: within our minds.
This ability to stand unshaken is a superpower. Especially now, and so I hope this food for thought inspires you to change what needs to be changed within your life. ;)
Blessings,
