When considering offerings for a goddess, a god, land spirits, angels, demons, ancestors and so forth, you must consider the nature of the offerings you wish you provide. Contemplate the parts of the sum you seek to sacrifice, as there are times in which that material base can effect the spirits rather readily. Sometimes that can be incredibly positive, but there are notable times when the response is not so awesome.
Some spirits prefer caffeine, while others prefer booze. Some are offended by alcohol and will only take tobacco. There are those who want nothing to do with these things and specifically want certain rocks or herbs, too, so being mindful of what you choose can make all the difference in the world.

As you can see above, not always are the offerings equivocal. Not always do they look the same. In the first picture, I am making an offering to Ha-Satan on behalf of a client, while in the second I am making a like offering to the Divine. They are not treated the same, though both exist within the confines of the same Universe.
