Lady Luck is a fickle mistress, bound to a rather tempestuous nature. Sometimes her floes are helpful, and others they’re disastrous. Yes, I am referring to Luck as an external, nigh deific sort, as it certainly does seem to have its own intelligence and capriciousness to it. Weird as it sounds, pay attention to the desperate: they have no luck. The more desperate they become, the less luck they have....its logical to assume that luck is negatively impacted by desperation.
Its not an effect you can count on, even if you’re a “lucky person”, as there are times where we all experience streaks of awesomeness and then streaks of “meh”. It’s a useful force to factor in when working towards success in one arena or another, but I am of the mind that it isn’t to be counted or relied upon. Thus, I don't. While I might enchant for luck, its not primary or secondary in my focus...rather, it gets relegated to a later spot.
For example, if I were interested in getting a particular job or promotion, there are a great many things I would do before I would bother with luck and the related concerns. Foci are manifold when such concerns are being addressed, and I don't like to count on anything particularly fickle.
My list of work would look something like this:
- Glam myself to make me look like a better candidate for the job
- Glam my resume
- Sweeten relations with my boss as well as the boss of the new position, as that'd likely make it easier to get the job.
- Remove obstacles
- Open the road
- Bless my application process
- Perform a working to ensure that I'm in the right place at the right time.
- Luck work
As you can see, luck work is at the end of the line. Its useful, but not so useful that it should replace "real" work. Its not the godsend some seem to think it is, but rather the cherry on top that seems to add a benefit when you don't really need it.
