Sadly, its also a polarizing topic, and one that can leave people quite upset.
I am as much a student of this world as I am of the next, and the things I've come across over the years have taught me a great many life lessons. Among them is the understanding that life is anything but fair. In Nature, prey is stalked, taken, and consumed so that apex predators can persist. That is the way of things.
Concepts like the Threefold Law need not apply, for the cheetah isn't going to be punished by the Universe for eating an antelope. Nor are you going to be punished for protecting yourself from a predator., especially not three times over.
That idea that you can't fight back is a power tactic, and its a means of control.
This understanding is immensely pertinent and essentially invaluable where magic is concerned, as magic is a means of evening the scales. Its a tool which can help you to gain an advantage you might not otherwise have, and in times where a predator has you in their sights, it is advantageous to have a means of response.
Blessings,
Chris
